LOA: What is Self-Confidence and how it Helps us to Manifest our Desires

Self-confidence helps us to manifest our desires. This means that we have to develop trust in ourselves.

Oxford Languages describes self-confidence in this way; “A feeling of trust in one’s abilities, qualities and, judgments”.

The University of South Florida says, “It is an attitude about your skills and abilities. It means you accept yourself and have a sense of control in your life.

Self-confidence impacts almost every area of our life. Therefore, if we lack self-confidence we are going to have a challenge manifesting our desires.

What you believe about yourself, is not only going to impact your manifestations, but will impact every area of your life.

 

Pay Attention to Your Self-Talk

Every day, almost all day long, there is self-talk going on in the human mind. The only time it is free is when we are asleep, in deep meditation, or concentrating deeply on a project.

It is very important to pay close attention to self-talk. This is the only way to know what we are truly thinking. We can recognize the thoughts we have about ourselves, others, situations, and everything else. Unfortunately most of it is going to be negative especially if we are focused on the self.

When I personally take time to listen to this self-talk, most of it is based in the false image I have of myself. I often wonder why I would say these things to myself, because I would never say these horrible things to anybody else. Furthermore, most of this talk isn’t even logical, non-the-less true.

 

Change Your Thinking

Once we become aware of our thinking we are more able to change that habit. Most of these thoughts are deeply lodged within our subconscious mind.

Many of these thoughts and beliefs are just perceptions and/or opinions coming from ourselves or others. The thoughts feel true and normal, but the majority of the time they are not true. Especially when they are negative, hurtful, and self destructive.

I sometimes wake up in the middle of the night deeply focused on some sort of situation, and berating myself for failing to come up with a solution. It is generally a horrible feeling, sometimes sickening. and actually causing me physical pain. However, when I wake up in the morning and thinking much more clearly, the issue dissolves.

There came a time when I had to change my way of thinking. Becoming more aware of my thoughts was the only way I could free myself from this negative life style.

 

Manifesting More Negativity

People who know and understand the Law of Attraction are aware that we are all manifesting something, all the time. If we are constantly focused on the negative aspects of the self, and everything else negative, we are going to attract more negativity. This is exactly what was happening to me. Finally I became fed up with it all. Therefore, I made a conscious decision to change my thinking.

It took me months to recognize what I thought about myself. I often saw myself as a mistake, a failure, a loser, a misfit and, useless. Somehow I had come to believe that no one really liked me or wanted me around.

I entered university when I was 45. I passed every exam and graded highly on every paper I wrote. I graduated with a double major and 3 minors. However, I did not attend my graduation because I believed that I did not deserve it. I also believed I only did well because it was so easy. In fact, it had been difficult. I only had a grade 9 education and I had to learn how to write papers and exams all over again.

I rejected even the positive accomplishments in my life, discounting them as if they were nothing to be proud of. I truly believed that I was a complete loser. 

 

Positive Thoughts Bring Positive Manifestations

When I first became aware of the Law of Attraction, I wanted “stuff”. For example, I wanted money, loads of it, and a life style to match. However, no matter what I did, I could not manifest anything, as a result I became more miserable than ever.

This is when I recognized why I wasn’t manifesting anything I wanted. I decided that I wanted to be happy and joyous. But more than anything, I wanted to learn to stop the negative beliefs that I had about myself. Finally I began to master the task of eliminating the negative self-talk.

It worked ! I am so much happier now than I have ever been. It has nothing to do with the circumstances of my life, the people in my life, or about what others think about me. I knew “stuff” wasn’t going to make me happy either. Perhaps “stuff” would work it’s magic for a while, but deep down I knew it wouldn’t last.

It was time to develop a deep sense of self-confidence.

I changed my thought patterns by paying attention to what I was telling myself about “me”. Yes, it works! The more I paid attention, the easier it got. To do this however, I had to acknowledge my thoughts, not run away from them, and then, let them go.

I began by forgiving myself. The more I looked at what I thought were mistakes I realized they were lessons learned. Lessons I had to go through to develop and grow in wisdom.

I focused on the positive things about myself and admired myself for the accomplishments I had acquired.

Then came the realization that there were plenty of people who loved and cared for me. People valued what I had to say. They genuinely cared.

I also learned to quiet my mind through meditation and going for long walks. Another thing I do are mantras and   affirmations. There are times when I forget to use them, however, I found out they can be an effective tool for change. I do these things because I enjoy doing them.

 I hope you can choose to make changes in your thinking and to develop a large amount of self-confidence.
