Asking for Help

I Have a Difficult Time Asking for Help

I have a difficult time asking for help, admitting how inadequate I feel and embarrassed to think I am a failure. It is  embarrassing to have people know how terrified I am to do or to even learn something new. The process of wondering what others will think about me makes it even worse.

There are times when it isn’t about learning something new. It could be that I am down on my luck, and I need food, money, or something else to aid me getting through a tough spot. My mind tells me how much of a loser I am. But there are times when getting a hand out is a necessity.

I Have to Ask for Hand Outs

I have to ask for hand outs at times, we all do. Usually it’s because I don’t understand what has to be done, or in some cases, I just feel inadequate. However, I ask anyway, and my fears begin to dissipate, I learn something new and I gain a new skill. And to my surprise, my helpers understand and tell me they have had the same issues before. Perhaps one day I will be able to help someone else in the same predicament.

Learn to ask for help, it may be humbling, but there will be times when you will not have a choice. Remember that you can always give back in some way.

Asking for help does not mean we are weak or incompetent. It usually indicates an advanced level of honesty and intelligence.
